In September of 1985, this location became the first of the "Next Generation Mel's" to open. The restaurant was an immediate success as patrons of the original Mel's brought along their children to experience the legendary chicken pot pie, meatloaf, and Melburger that were the ambassadors of our home-style cooking in the 40's, 50's, 60's, and 70's. The restaurant's unique ability to satisfy the nostalgia pangs of its customers quickly prompted the Coors Beer and Goodrich Tire Companies to feature it in their television commercials, and Mel's has been a regular star of film and television ever since.
